Utica Runs Away With Early Lead In Victory

Liberty Union Lions Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 7-1 loss to Utica on Tuesday. Utica scored on a home run by Elliot in the first inning and a home run by Heckman in the second inning.
The Liberty Union Lions Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Utica, giving up seven runs.
Utica got things moving in the first inning, when Elliot homered on a 2-2 count, scoring three runs.
Utica scored three runs in the second inning. Utica scored its runs on a home run by Heckman.
Dyke was credited with the victory for Utica. She lasted seven innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out nine and walking zero.
Kennedee Putnam took the loss for Liberty Union Lions Varsity. She allowed five hits and five runs over one and one-third innings.
Liberty Union Lions Varsity smacked one home run on the day. Rayne Opperman put one out in the sixth inning.
Kaylee Savage, Sara Bader, Opperman, and Reagan Farmer each collected one hit to lead Liberty Union Lions Varsity.
Utica tallied 11 hits. Hoover, Heckman, and Elliot each racked up multiple hits for Utica. Hoover led Utica with three hits in four at bats. Utica didn’t commit a single error in the field. Orr had ten chances in the field, the most on the team.
