Liberty Union Lions Varsity Defeats Fairfield Union Despite Allowing 7-Run Inning

Liberty Union Lions Varsity weathered a scare by Fairfield Union in the first inning where Liberty Union Lions Varsity coughed up seven runs, but Liberty Union Lions Varsity still won 15-8 on Tuesday. The big inning for Fairfield Union came thanks to singles by Terry and LaFollette, a home run by Snider, and an error on a ball put in play by Forsythe.
Both offenses were strong at the plate as Liberty Union Lions Varsity collected 15 hits and Fairfield Union nine in the high-scoring affair
Fairfield Union captured the lead in the first inning. LaFollette drove in one when she singled.
After Liberty Union Lions Varsity scored one run in the top of the seventh, Fairfield Union answered with one of their own. Liberty Union Lions Varsity scored when Hailey Courts singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run. Fairfield Union then answered when LaFollette’s sac fly scored one run for Fairfield Union.
Liberty Union Lions Varsity took the lead for good with 12 runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Kennedee Putnam singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Maddie Austin singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, Ali Ety singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs, Sara Bader doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, an error scored two runs for Liberty Union Lions Varsity, Hailey Lewellen laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run, Putnam singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run, and Rayne Opperman doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
Alyse Looney was on the mound for Liberty Union Lions Varsity. She went one-third of an inning, allowing five runs on four hits and walking zero.
Teasley started the game for Fairfield Union. She lasted six and two-thirds innings, allowing ten hits and seven runs while striking out three. Ogg threw one-third of an inning out of the bullpen.
Liberty Union Lions Varsity racked up 15 hits on the day. Opperman, Austin, Courts, and Putnam each racked up multiple hits for Liberty Union Lions Varsity. Austin and Opperman each managed three hits to lead Liberty Union Lions Varsity.
