The Liberty Union boys soccer team got back to over .500 for the season with a 6-2 win over Northridge at Northridge High School on Tuesday night.
Liberty Union would score twice in the first half. The first coming from a great throughball by junior forward Dylan Drass to senior Carson Palmer. The duo would combine again in the first half with a similar throughball combination by Drass to Palmer for his second goal of the half.
Northridge came out determined after the half and scored just 4 minutes into the second half. The goal coming from a back post finish by senior Logan Willeke off a nice build and cross by the Northridge midfield. LU would quickly answer with Palmer’s third goal of the game off a quick restart from junior Michael Wagner. Wolffel would score off a beautiful curved shot from 25 yards out into the top right corner off Drass’s third assist of the night. The center back combination of sophomore Tyler Palmer and junior Aaron Basso would connect again with Basso finishing a header from a free kick by Tyler Palmer. The Lion’s sixth goal of the game came from Carson Palmer scoring his 4th of the night unassisted off a steal in the Northridge defensive third. Northridge would not quit though and squeezed in a goal in the final three seconds of the contest from junior Nathan Hewett.
Northridge’s junior goalkeeper Chris Woods would have 8 saves on the night. Liberty Union’s senior goalkeeper Luke McCormick would have 5 saves in the game.
Liberty Union’s next game will be this Saturday at noon against Johnstown Monroe at Johnstown.
