Liberty Union boys soccer won their 5th game of the season Saturday afternoon over Sheridan by a score of 7-0.
Senior Carson Palmer and junior Michael Wagner led the Lions by each scoring two goals apiece. Juniors Chance Wolffel and Aaron Basso would also score to give the Lions a 6-0 lead at halftime. Juniors Dylan Drass and Nate Winkler finished the first half combining for 5 assists (Drass-3 Winkler-2).
Reserve players played the second half for the Lions and junior Tucker Meachem found the back of the net on a pass from junior Seth Gray.
Seniors Luke McCormick, Dustin Lester, and freshman Jon Wheeler all split time at goalie during the game and each was credited with 1 save. Sheridan senior goalkeeper JJ Hackworth made several diving stops and was credited with 9 saves on the day.
With two minutes remaining in the game, a Lions defender went to the ground with a badly injured ankle. In a great display of sportsmanship, Sheridan freshman Jacob Flood assisted the hurt Lions player to the sideline.
The Lions will return to action next Tuesday at the Liberty Union Middle School at 5:30 as they take on Millersport.
