Liberty Union went up against the Pioneers of Olentangy Orange on Saturday falling 11-0. The Lions collected six hits off of Lattig whom went the distance for the Pioneers but were unable to score.
Caleb Peck went 3 for 3 to account for half of the Lions total. Travis Mullins, Lucas Slone, and Reed Farmer picked up the other three.
The Lions fell behind 4-0 in the first inning. After starting pitcher Austin Young retired the first hitter, the next six reached safely. The Pioneers had four hits, a walk, and a hit batter to score their runs. One of those hits a triple by Till. In the second they would add three more on sacrifice fly, an error and a single. It might have been worse had a couple of good defensive plays not been made by the Lions. Lattig was thrown out trying to go to second on a throw to the plate that was cut. Then on a slow grounder to short that Nick Congrove was unable to get the batter at first, Evans rounded third for the Pioneers to score, but a heads up Caleb Peck threw home to get him to end the inning.
The Pioneers capped their scoring in the fourth when with two outs the collected four hits to score four runs.
Dylan Anthony pitched well in relief for the Lions. He pitched the final inning and one-third, scattering four hits, allowing a run, walking one, and striking out one.
