Liberty Union boys soccer lost to Bloom Carroll on Saturday 3-2 at Bloom Carroll High School.
Liberty Union played well in the first half creating several scoring chances and drawing four corner kicks. Liberty Union finally scored on one of these chances when senior Carson Palmer drew a PK and finished it to the left corner to give LU a 1-0.
Bloom Carroll came out with much more energy in the second half and began pressing Liberty Union on their defensive half of the field. Liberty Union struggled to break pressure out of their half of the field and Bloom Carroll would find the back of the net when Freshman Chase Altwood would win a 50/50 ball and volley a shot into the right corner to tie the game. With 15 minutes left in the game senior Devin Heiberger would score a go ahead goal to make the game 2-1. Liberty Union would fight back on a quick counter attack from a throughball from Palmer to junior Michael Wagner who finished the breakaway. Unfortunately for the Lions Heiberger would find the back of the net again with only 22 seconds remaining in the game to give Bloom Carroll a 3-2 win.
Liberty Union senior GK Luke McCormick finished the game with 8 saves. Bloom Carroll senior GK Andrew Kim finished the game with 6 saves.
Liberty Union will play again this Wednesday against Circleville as they host Youth Soccer Night at 5:30pm at the Liberty Union Middle School.
