Game Recap

Liberty Union won last night against perennial conference power Fairfield Union in their biggest win of the season and continuing their five game unbeaten streak.

Fairfield dominated possession and scoring chances in the first half with Liberty Union only managing to register a single shot on goal. However, junior goalkeeper would save all attempts on goal and LU would survive to enter the half in a 0-0 tie.

Liberty Union would make adjustments and started to sustain offense in the second half resulting in drawing a PK within the first five minutes of the half. Junior Carson Palmer would calmly finish the kick in the left corner to give Liberty Union a 1-0 lead.

The lead would not last long as Fairfield Union quickly responded when #21 Paige put away a rebound goal to even the score.

Fairfield Union began controlling the game again until sophomore Michael Wagner picked a pass away intended for a defenseman and finished the breakaway to put the Lions ahead. Fairfield Union would create chance after chance but could not find the back of the net as time expired.

The Lions will try to end their regular season continuing their winning streak as they play Harvest Prep at Jack Johnson Field at 7pm.

Game Recap

Liberty Union continued their 4 game unbeaten streak as they defeated conference foe Amanda Clearcreek at the Liberty Union High School Field last night.

Liberty Union scored first when junior Carson Palmer was played in by a nice through ball pass by sophomore Michael Wagner. Amanda would answer before the end of the half after Zach Meadows finished a nice cross to tie the game 1-1.

Amanda would have much of the possession and several quality scoring chances but Liberty Union’s junior goalkeeper had his best game of the season making 17 saves on the night. Liberty Union would find a go ahead goal with 15 minutes left when sophomore Chance Wolfel found Palmer on a superb one touch through ball.

Liberty Union sophomore Aaron Basso would seal the win with a late goal from a lifted through ball from fellow sophomore Tucker Meachem. Amanda Clearcreek’s goalkeeper Michael Montoney finished the game with 5 saves respectfully.

Liberty Union will take their three game winning streak to Fairfield Union this Saturday as they try for their 3rd conference win on the year at 7:15 at Fairfield Union High School.
