Liberty Union High School
Fairfield Union High School
Liberty Union won last night against perennial conference power Fairfield Union in their biggest win of the season and continuing their five game unbeaten streak.
Fairfield dominated possession and scoring chances in the first half with Liberty Union only managing to register a single shot on goal. However, junior goalkeeper would save all attempts on goal and LU would survive to enter the half in a 0-0 tie.
Liberty Union would make adjustments and started to sustain offense in the second half resulting in drawing a PK within the first five minutes of the half. Junior Carson Palmer would calmly finish the kick in the left corner to give Liberty Union a 1-0 lead.
The lead would not last long as Fairfield Union quickly responded when #21 Paige put away a rebound goal to even the score.
Fairfield Union began controlling the game again until sophomore Michael Wagner picked a pass away intended for a defenseman and finished the breakaway to put the Lions ahead. Fairfield Union would create chance after chance but could not find the back of the net as time expired.
The Lions will try to end their regular season continuing their winning streak as they play Harvest Prep at Jack Johnson Field at 7pm.
